General Help


Network Assets:

Network Assets is the list of assets that your friends have made available for you to borrow.

To generate this list it uses the "Dist" (Max Distance) and "Status" entered on the My Assets page by your friend for each asset and their settings on the My Friends page to determine whether you can see items.

This information is controlled directly by the asset owner and there is nothing directly that you can do within the system to change this. If you feel that there is less information that you would expect ask your friend to consider changing their Asset Privacy information or changing your details on their "My Friends" page.

CYNF is a collaboration tool for sharing. Please respect individuals decisions regarding the use of their assets and whether they make them available within CYNF. To get the best use of the system grow your network of friends to widen your choice of assets.

Request Loan :

Click on the item in the list to bring up the loan request page where you can enter a request to borrow that specific item.

Search Asset List:

To search or filter the Network Assets list you can use the search box at the tope of the page. You can use it to :

  • Search by Title: to find all the items with the search text in the title, eg. "Star Wars" will list all soon to be 6 DVDs.
  • Search by Director / Author / Artist... : find all the books in your network by author, DVDs by director or Music by Artist.
  • Filter list: to just DVDs, CDs or any other sub-category of asset.

 

Status:

The "Status" is set by the owner of the asset and means the following:

    • Normal: item is available for loan. Click on asset name to go to the "Loan Request" page.

      Normal was chosen over available because the item may currently be out on loan to another friend and hence not currently available. You will still need to check the calendar on the "Loan Request" page to determine the item's availability

    • Reserved: item is not available for loan, the "Loan Request" page will not allow the entry of a loan.
    • Sell / Swap : this Gold Member feature which enables your friend to post items for sale or swap on his network of which you are one. Click on the asset name for further details.

      Note that it is the owner's membership that affects whether the asset can marked for Sale / Swap, which means that you can be the only one with Gold Membership but others can still see that you want to Sell / Swap an item.

    • Invisible: you will not see any item that the owner has marked as invisible on your network assets.

Owner & Friend Path:

This information clearly labels who owns the asset and how they know you.

CYNF determines the least path from the owner of the asset to you via his network. It is quite possible for you to know that person through another path. But that's OK.

Help:

To get specific help on any function or page within CYNF HQ press:

next to the tabs across the top.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions are available from the top menu under the CYNF Logo.

Navigation:

Navigation is easy in CYNF HQ by using a combination of the top tabs and the left side tabs to navigate through CYNF HQ.

  • Top Tabs: selects the asset category or group
  • Left Side Tabs: selects the function or information

eg. Select "Games" and "Loans" to see all applicable loans relating to Games.

Add Assets :

You can add assets at anytime.

Remember the more assets you add the more your friends can see and the more likely they are to add assets themselves.

To add additional assets click on the "Add Assets" menu item on the top of the page just under the CYNF Logo.

Invite Friends :

You can invite friends at anytime.

Remember the more friends that you add the larger your friends network becomes (especially as they add friends) and therefore the more assets that are available to borrow.

To invite friends click on the "Invite Friends" menu item on the top of the page just under the CYNF Logo and complete the e-mail form.
